The General Conference of IFJ Meetings “The 31st Congress”.
The 31st General Conference hosted by the Sultanate of Oman in 2022 is an expansion of the meetings of the Executive Office of the International Federation, which was postponed 4 times due to the world’s preoccupation with combating the Corona Covid-19 Virus. The continent’s representatives have unanimously supported the convention of the 31st Congress in the Sultanate of Oman in recognition of its role on the international stage. The (Congress) will focus on the syndicates’ gains of the institutions affiliated with the Federation in a special session, in addition to the challenges faced by journalists today, including their safety, infringement of the freedom of the press, media independence and the International Federation of Journalists’ action program, among others.
About Omani Journalists Association
The Omani Journalists Association was founded on 21/4/2004 by 45 founding members, and is managed by an elected board of directors consisting of 12 members, including the Chairman, deputy chairman, secretary and treasurer. The Omani Journalists Association operates according to the provisions of the law of civil societies and its administrative and financial affairs are subject to the law of civil societies’ executive regulations. The Association includes more than 800 members, and their membership is renewed at the end of each year. The number of the annual memberships renewed ranges from 250 to 350 members, reaching 400 members occasionally during the election period. The occupational function of the Association is derived from several goals, the most essential of such:
The International Federation of Journalists and the actions of the Middle East and Arab World Office
The International Federation of Journalists is the largest international organization of journalists, representing more than six hundred thousand media professionals in 187 Syndicates and Associations from 146 country around the world. The Federation is the organization that speaks for journalists within the United Nations system and within the global Syndicates movement. It was established in 1926 in Paris, re-established again in 1946, and stabilized in its current form after its third re-establishment in 1952.
